Startup Resources | Testing, Metrics and Tools

I often get asked (and find myself asking) the question, “what are the best practical resources for a startup?”

This is a pretty valid question but like almost every decision we now make in our lives or in business, sifting through the madness and finding the ‘golden nuggets’ can be a little tricky.

Today I’m going to talk about two specific resources that I see value in. Both resources promote the notion of ‘evidence-based entrepreneurship’ and provide a framework for you to test hypothesis and either prove or disprove their validity. Within these resources you can capture information, asses it, learn from it and then iterate your initial hypothesis. This process then enables you to design new tests and repeat the process over and over until you get the answers you need.

This iterative and incremental approach that helps you achieved fact-based learning is now considered ‘startup best practice.’

Resource 1

www.launchpadcentral.com

This is a resource powered and influenced by Steve Blank’s frameworks and enables you to track your startups progress, assess your investment readiness and ultimately build a business based on facts rather than guesses.

Resource 2

www.javelin.com

Javelin actually has three different offerings; Lean Startup Machine, Quick MVP, and Experiment Board (Coming Soon).

Each offering enables you to achieve different things but all provide massive value to your cause as a startup founder.

I’m not actually going to go into any detail surrounding why these tools exist, how they work and what they enable you to do as there are a bunch of video’s and resources available for you to read on the site that will explain everything in a lot more depth.

Finding the right resources when you’re a startup can be tricky and I’ve tried and tested a bunch of different platforms. Both of these are solid and it would be great to hear your thoughts when you’ve tried them.
